From Adventure To Adventure….. How The Schofield’s Came To Be

How our adventure began….

We met in high school but didn’t start dating until 3 years after high school graduation. While we were dating, we ran a half marathon, went skydiving, backpacked to Havasupi Falls, mountain biked, dirt biked, skied and snowboarded, and went on so many other adventures together.

So… first came love. How could I not love a man that was crazy enough to jump out of a plane with me. Then came marriage.

Once we were married we hiked, camped, went to school, worked, and adventured on.  Something was missing though. We wanted children. As we discussed starting a family we decided we didn’t want our children to stop us from doing the things we loved. So with that in mind we decide to start our fam. Throughout pregnancy we continued to have adventures and then… came a baby in a baby carriage. Our first little girl made her debut.

EMERY- (currently 2 yrs and 4 m.) She was ready for life! She was so ready she was born in the hospital parking lot in a wheelchair. Now that… was an adventure! Not quite a baby carriage but close, the wheelchair did have wheels. ? She has been a little spit fire ever since. Eager to explore and soak up every bit of knowledge that she can. Watching her grow has been its own amazing adventure.

We have loved being able to take her with us on hiking, camping and backpacking trips. We have embraced that we have to do things a little differently. We have to plan and prepare a little more carefully, but we have made it work. We have loved every trip, and experience we have had with her.

MAZIE- (almost 7 m.) Girl number two. We decided to use a midwife and just stay home with this one. One of the best decisions we have ever made! It was an amazing experience. She has been the sweetest bundle of joy since she arrived. Having two girls has changed how we do things. We have to do even more planning and preparing. For being so little they sure are needy, haha.

These two beautiful girls do add a lot more work and preparation. The experiences have been so much more memorable. Making it work has been more than worth it for us. We still find ourselves doing all the things we love and most of them with two little angels in tow (still haven’t found a car seat for our dirt bikes).

To learn where and how we are going to be hiking and backpacking with both girls go check out our summer summits project page to see where we have been hiking lately. Simple is one of my favorite words, so we will be sharing simple ways to make your adventures fun and exciting with kids in tow.

We are excited for some warmer weather so we can get out there and keep adventuring as one big happy fam!
